$45 million Catholic College approved by council
A $45 million private Catholic College at Bli Bli has been approved by Sunshine Coast Council. The Parklakes 2 master plan proposes to construct the private school from prep through to Year 12, accommodating up to 1500 students and 125 staff members.

The Parklakes 2 master plan proposes to construct the private school from prep through to Year 12, accommodating up to 1500 students and 125 staff members.
The $16 million Stage 1 plans include the initial approval to construct building blocks A to H to cater for more than 360 students and 30 staff members.
Divisional Councillor Steve Robinson said the Parklakes 2 site was located perfectly to service a growing catchment area, right in the middle of the Sunshine Coast.
“The school's catchment will take in students from Bli Bli, Coolum Beach, Marcoola, Mudjimba, Maroochydore, Kuluin, Diddillibah, Rosemount, Eumundi and the eastern fringe of Nambour,” Cr Robinson said.
“Scheduled to open in 2019, Stage 1 of the new school will feature state-of-the-art classrooms, facilities, junior and senior playing fields with additional indoor and outdoor court areas.
“The new school at Bli Bli provides an important facility for the growing community, reduces enrolment pressure on our other schools in the region and provides a central location within the Sunshine Coast for new students from different catchment areas.
“The approval is a win for the community.”
Planning Portfolio Councillor Christian Dickson said it was encouraging to see the Sunshine Coast Planning Scheme providing the right conditions for developments to prosper in the right locations.
“Master planned communities are a growing trend and the planning scheme is continuing to provide support for this type of development,” Cr Dickson said.
“There are significant advantages to owning a home in one of these planned communities. Everything you need is within a very short distance and within your own community.
“There’s no doubt that a new school is a vital piece of infrastructure within any residential neighbourhood, with Brightwater State School, Pacific Lutheran at Kawana Forest and Peregian Springs State School proving to be perfect examples of this.
