Women of all ages on the Sunshine Coast who are looking to get outdoors and exercise, learn a new skill and meet new friends, can now join an introductory mountain biking classes and guided bushwalking groups through council’s ‘Get Out Get Active program’.

Since the launch of council’s healthy Sunshine Coast program in 2016, thousands of people across the Coast have already started their journey of feeling the benefits of a healthy mind and body.

“The ‘Get Out Get Active program’ is designed to motivate, inspire and support women and girls wanting to be more active - it’s fantastic to see these exciting additions to this wonderful program,” Cr McKay said.

Participants in the bushwalking program can join guided groups to explore gorgeous walks and trails across the hinterland, from Kin Kin and Mount Ninderry to Mooloolah and the Glass House Mountains.

Women who are keen to head off-road on wheels are encouraged to build their skills and confidence through introductory classes, hosted by local mountain biking group; Women on Wheels.

The six-week program commences on April 17 with a cost of $10 each week, which includes a one-year membership to Mountain Bike Australia, with participants becoming a member of either Caloundra Off Road Cycling Association or Bushrangers Mountain Biking Club.

Sessions will run once a week for six weeks and registrations are now open. Visit council’s website to secure your spot today.
