The people have spoken – Mooloolaba has been named in the top four best beaches in Australia.

According to Global travel website, TripAdvisor, travellers have voted Mooloolaba the 4th Best Beach in Australia behind top entries, Manly Beach in NSW, Surfers Paradise in QLD and Turquoise Bay in WA.

Mooloolaba has also ranked higher than Bondi Beach in NSW and Cable Beach in Broome, which came in at sixth and ninth, respectively.

The TripAdvisor Travellers Choice Award showcases beaches from across the country with Mooloolaba Beach being recognised for its fun, friendly atmosphere.

Sunshine Coast Mayor Mark Jamieson said he was not surprised Mooloolaba had achieved this recognition.

“Mooloolaba is a spectacular beach with postcard views and international appeal. What a winner,” Mayor Jamieson said.

“From the stunning ocean, beautiful sands and the amazing sunrises, the beach at Mooloolaba is enjoyed all year round.

“It is paradise on our doorstep.”

Mayor Jamieson said council had long recognised the region’s growing reputation as an outstanding location in all facets of work and life.

“We have the perfect combination of a strong economy, a healthy lifestyle, a vibrant community and outstanding natural assets which is proving to be a real drawcard for tourism and for our residents,” Mayor Jamieson said.

“Tourism expenditure has reached $A3billion per annum for the Sunshine Coast (TEQ, 2018) and with accolades like this, we have a strong platform to continue that positive trajectory.”

Mooloolaba beach is also the destination for the region’s largest and iconic events, including the Mooloolaba Swim Festival, Mooloolaba Triathlon, Netfest and the Ironman 70.3 and is home to world class seafood including the famous Mooloolaba prawn and Australia’s largest wild-caught tuna and swordfish operation in Australia operated by Walkers Seafood.

Mooloolaba’s vibrant shopping, dining and accommodation options give locals and visitors plenty of choice for a holiday, a weekend or just a great night out.

Mooloolaba Chamber of Commerce President Graeme Juniper said he needed no convincing that Mooloolaba was the Best Beach in the country.

“It is great to be recognised in the top four,” Mr Juniper said.

“To beat off some other illustrious competition is also something to be very proud of.”
