Mooloolaba – a sparkling gem of the Coast

Combine the world’s biggest waterslide, sand sculptures, beach markets and an awesome selection of dining experiences with a sprinkle of fairy lights and Mooloolaba is definitely the place to be this spring.

Division 4 Councillor John Connolly said Mooloolaba was buzzing with visitors and residents enjoying everything the renowned tourist hub has to offer during the school holiday break.

“Our weather is perfect and our pristine beaches are inviting with pure white sand and sparkling water – just like the new fairy lights that have been installed along Mooloolaba Esplanade to add to the hospitality precinct’s ambience,” Cr Connolly said.

“Some of the highlights during the holiday break include the arrival of the world’s largest inflatable Trippo waterslide, towering 12 meters and offering three slides, on Mooloolaba Beach until October 7.

“We are extremely lucky to welcome international sand artist Dennis ‘the Sandman’ Massoud, who will be creating sand sculptures over the October long weekend on Mooloolaba Beach in front of the Loo With a View.

“Kids can even try their hand at building their own sandcastles, just like the professionals, from 9am -3pm on Saturday and Sunday.

“Of course visitors and locals can enjoy the many outdoor cafes, juice bars, alfresco restaurants to experience the renowned Mooloolaba hospitality, the variety of fashion boutiques and attractions such as SEA LIFE Sunshine Coast.”

Cr Connolly said the fun doesn’t stop in Mooloolaba after the school holidays.

“Everyone loves a good market and there will be markets on the Esplanade on Sunday, October 8 and the Mooloolaba Beach Market is just the place to pick up some great fashion or home wares at the Mooloolaba State School oval on Sunday, October 22,” he said.

“Due to popular demand, the movies on the beach will return over the summer holidays.

“Stay tuned as Mooloolaba Business and Tourism members are planning many more exciting events for the Mooloolaba horizon.”

Mooloolaba Business and Tourism president Bruce Ferguson said the giant waterslide, lights in the trees and movies on the beach were examples of the great collaboration between council, Mooloolaba Business and Tourism and the community.

“Mooloolaba Business and Tourism has a lot on the drawing board to be rolled out over the next couple of months,” he said.

Shaping Sands: Saturday, September 30 - Monday, October 2

Bring the whole family down to Mooloolaba Beach in front of the Loo With a View to watch international sand artist Dennis “the Sandman” Massoud creating sand sculptures over the October long weekend. Kids and adults alike will be amazed at what can be created from sand.

Children will have the opportunity to learn about building sandcastles like the professionals with workshops on Saturday and Sunday from 9am-3pm.

Mooloolaba Beach Markets: Sunday, October 8, 10am-12.30pm (second Sunday of the month)

Who doesn’t love an outdoor market? The Mooloolaba Beach Markets relocate to the esplanade (near the Mooloolaba Surf Club) and offer fantastic craft, local produce and food. More information via the Mooloolaba Beach Markets Facebook page.
