Come on in, the water’s fine! That’s the message to Aqua Fun Park fans after the popular Sunshine Coast attraction’s successful relcation to the Novotel Twin Waters Resort.

The park was formerly located at Bli Bli and Coolum and Director of Operations Ken Bowden said its new home was already proving to be popular with visitors and tourists.

“We’ve been trading here at the Novotel Twin Waters Resort for 11 days and business has been relatively strong considering the short period we’ve been here,” he said.

“Sunshine Coast Council and the Novotel have been fantastic in helping us find a new home at short notice and that has enabled us to keep our business here and keep many of our staff employed. We employed up to 60 staff last season and we look forward to expanding the Aqua Fun Park further with the Novotel twin Waters Resort.

“We were attracting an average of 200-300 visitors from Brisbane last summer in our former location and word of mouth is spreading that we’re back up and running here at the Novotel so we’re hopeful for a very successful summer period in particular. We’re planning to introduce our new generation Aqua Fun Park ‘AFP 400’ that was designed in recent months.

“Aqua Fun Park are the only operators in the world who design and develop their own equipment for their parks and water play activities. More than 75,000 people played  on the Aqua Fun Park last season at Coolum.”

Division 8 Councillor Jason O’Pray said it was fantastic to see the highly popular business remain within the region.

“The Aqua Fun Park is a terrific local attraction and a very well run business so it was imperative that we at council did all we could to help them find a new home,” he said.

“It’s great to see them up and running and I’d like to thank the Novotel twin Waters Resort for coming on board and helping us keep this outstanding tourist attraction here. It’s also for employment and the park already has 27 casual staff on their books at their new location and are looking to grow this number into the future.”

Novotel Twin Waters Resort General Manager Warwick Kahl said the Aqua Fun Park’s relocation was a great outcome.

“This is a real win-win for everyone. It’s fantastic for the Sunshine Coast that a tourist draw card like the Aqua Fun Park will remain here and from our point of view we’re very excited to have the park here at the Novotel Twin Waters Resort for our guests and visitors to enjoy on a daily basis.

“We’ve also provided a 400-space car park near the Wandiny entrance specifically for the Aqua Fun Park so access is convenient and visitors are more than welcome to come and enjoy a great time.”
