High-quality aged care services group Arcare has arrived on the Sunshine Coast and will shortly begin construction of a 90-bed facility in Peregian.
A leading provider of aged care services in Victoria and South East Queensland, Arcare has identified the Coast’s significant development prospects and believes this to be an ideal location in which to establish a community-orientated aged care facility.
"Construction of the facility will employ up to 75 workers across a variety of trades," Arcare Marketing Manager Lynn Slater said.
"When construction is completed in 2012 the facility will employ more than 130 people in key sectors such as nursing, hospitality, maintenance and administration."
Sunshine Coast Council Economic Development Portfolio Councillor Lew Brennan welcomed the news.
"Arcare has recognised the great potential for its growth on the Coast and the company’s decision to expand – with another potential facility to be located here down the track – confirms the confidence that business has in this region," he said.
Ms Slater said council had been pro-active in recognising the need for aged care services in the area, as well as displaying a commitment to creating a more diversified economic environment.
She said Arcare would step up to the plate with a high-quality establishment.
"Arcare Peregian will showcase a contemporary take on the best traditional Queensland architecture creating a truly stunning modern aged care facility," Ms Slater said.
"The 90-bed facility will cater for both low-care (hostel) and high-care (nursing home) residents. All rooms will be single with individual en-suite bathrooms as well as warm and inviting communal living and dining rooms.
"The residents will also enjoy an on site café, beauty salon and many more luxury appointments," she said.
