Tony is the author of 13 best-selling fiction books. As well as writing novels set in Africa, he has co-written autobiographies: Part of the Pride, with South African ‘Lion Whisperer’ Kevin Richardson, War Dogs, with Aussie explosive sniffer dog handler, Shane Bryant, The Grey Man with John Curtis; and memoirs including The Lost Battlefield of Kokoda with Brian Freeman, Walking Wounded, also with Brian Freeman, and Bush Vet, with Dr Clay Wilson.
Tony has worked as a newspaper reporter in Australia and England, a government press secretary, a public relations consultant, and freelance writer. His novels have been acclaimed bestsellers since his very first, Far Horizon. Tony is also a Major in the Australian Army Reserve and served six months in Afghanistan in 2002 as the public affairs officer for the Australian ground forces. He and his wife, Nicola, divide their time between Sydney and southern Africa where they own a home on the border of the Kruger National Park.
Tony will share his insights into his new fiction release, Red Earth, a story set in Durban, South Africa and centres around a thrilling plot involving an assassination, a stolen baby and a race to the death.
The literary event, with Sunshine Coast Daily’s Deputy Editor Damian Bathersby as master of ceremonies, is part of a series of Sunshine Coast Libraries’ author talks hosted at various locations across the region.
Tony’s books will be available for purchase at the venue. Tickets are $25 per person and bookings are a must via council’s library website. Light refreshments and live music by talented local musician Jai Bevan are included. A cash wine bar provided by Friends of Maroochydore Library will be available.
