Mount Gul'um Park, Mount Coolum with open green spaces

Mount Gul’um Park, on Boardwalk Boulevard, is a long park with a great view of Mount Coolum in the distance.

It’s where locals and visitors can enjoy a barbecue or picnic, relax in the open green space or get active on the great network of pathways.

The proposed basketball half court could be situated on the northern side of the park, nearby the existing picnic tables.

This location would keep the remainder of the park open for other community activities and would maintain the kick and throw space in the park.

We are also proposing other park improvements like extending the roadside garden area, adding more shade trees, and a new bench seat.

Sunshine Coast Division 8 Councillor Taylor Bunnag said he’d met with residents in Mount Coolum who expressed interest in installing a basketball half court in Mount Gul’um Park.

“Using minor capital works funding, I requested Council officers to design a space that our local community can enjoy,” Cr Bunnag said.

“We are committed to providing high-quality open space that supports active and healthy communities.

“Your feedback is important to me, so I invite you to please share your thoughts on this exciting proposal via the online survey."
