Queensland Transport is funding council’s reconstruction of two single-lane boat ramps south of Military Jetty at Golden Beach and the Harbour Parade boat ramp at Buddina.
Work at Golden Beach is well underway and set for completion next week, with the Harbour Parade project scheduled for May. The age and condition of the Queensland Transport-owned boat ramps means demolishing them and building new ones is the best option.
The replacement works, which include sand-filled geotextile bags for boat ramp shoulders and end protection, take about four weeks at each site.
Council is advising boat owners who use the Harbour Parade ramp to choose other launch points during May. The nearest alternative ramp is at the spot known as Outrigger Island at the southern end of Mackenzie’s Bridge. There are also ramps on the Mooloolaba side of the river.
Signs will be posted advising when works are scheduled to start and finish.
