Join a fun night of discussion and laughter at Sunshine Coast Libraries Big Book Club at council’s Maroochydore Library from 6 to 8pm on Wednesday, October 12.
Special guests on the Big Book Club panel include Australian author Sofie Laguna and ABC Sunshine Coast radio announcer Sheridan Stewart.
This dynamic duo will lead a review of Sofie’s award-winning fiction, The Eye of the Sheep which was awarded Australia’s top fiction prize, the $60,000 Miles Franklin Literary Award, shortlisted for the 2016 Dublin International Literary Award, shortlisted for the 2015 Stella Prize and the 2015 Voss literary award.
Sofie Laguna, whose career includes studying to be a lawyer and acting, is the author of books for adults and children.
Her many books for young people have been named Honour Books and Notable Books in the Children’s Book Council of Australia Book of the Year Awards and have been shortlisted in the Queensland Premier’s Awards.
She has also been published in the US and the UK and in translation throughout Europe and Asia.
Sheridan Stewart has been one of Australia’s favourite radio personalities and presenters and is passionate about the written word. She can be heard regularly interviewing national and international authors on ABC Sunshine Coast.
A literary best-seller, The Eye of the Sheep is told from the mesmerising point of view and in the voice of Jimmy Flick is an extraordinary story about a poor family struggling to cope with a unique and difficult child and will be available for purchase at the venue.
Tickets are just $25 per person and bookings are a must via council’s library website. Light refreshments and non-alcoholic beverages will be included.
Entertainment is provided by local bluegrass musicians The Repeat Offenders.
