A new shaded area is keeping guests cooler and protected from the sun at the Caloundra Aquatic Centre.
Located near the adventure play pool, the 4.5m x 11m structure is the latest addition to the popular centre in the Central Park precinct.
“Caloundra Aquatic Centre is a fantastic facility that offers great programs and is very well managed,” Division 2 Cr Dwyer said.
“The patrons appreciate the experience and expertise that the management and their staff provide.
“The new shade structure is another smart addition that further enhances the centre and the enjoyment and comfort of the public”
Manager John Wallace said he had seen the Caloundra Aquatic Centre flourish and expand in size and patronage over the years.
“With this growth there was a need for additional shade cover,” Mr Wallace said.
“Collaboration with council staff and a review of the site’s concept plan identified the Adventure Play Pool as a priority given the number of young families that utilise this space.
“We now have the ideal place to set up parties or just supervise in a close comfortable environment and it has already proved to be a huge success.”
Funding for the project included $10,000 from Division 2 Emergent (Capital Works).
