Sunshine Coast Council has taken over the operations of the Caloundra Transit Centre after the recent expiry of the current lease.
The transit centre, which was privately operated, provides a registered travel agent, GoCards and other travel tickets. The centre is known locally as the ‘bus terminal’.
Division 2 Councillor Tim Dwyer said council was committed to developing a strong and reliable public transport network on the Sunshine Coast, in line with the sustainable transport strategy.
“The current lease on the facility expired and council has acted to ensure the travelling public will be able to continue to access the services provided at the facility,” Cr Dwyer said.
“Since taking over operations of the centre, it has been business as usual for the travelling public, with minimal disruptions.
“Council will continue to work closely with the transport industry, centre employees, the public and other stakeholders to continue the delivery of ticketing and holiday services from the centre.”
