Three trees along Bulcock Street in Caloundra have a sparkly new look to celebrate Christmas.
Spectacular lights on the trees located on three CBD roundabouts will be officially turned on tonight by Division Two Councillor Tim Dwyer and will be on show to shoppers and other visitors each night until the end of the Christmas holidays.
Funded from the Caloundra CBD parking fund, they are in addition to the eye-catching trees which are attracting hundreds of onlookers each night on the Sunshine Coast’s Christmas Tree Trail.
“No other street on the Coast looks as good as Bulcock Street does at Christmas,” Cr Dwyer said.
“If you love Christmas lights, you really need to come and have a look at what we have on show here in Caloundra each night.
“It’s a lovely walk going along Bulcock Street and stopping off at Otranto Avenue, Minchinton Street and Canberra Terrace.”
The turning on of the Christmas lights has been welcomed by the Caloundra CBD Traders who will be out in force at tonight’s official switch on.
Traders spokeswoman Selina Smith said the lighting of the trees along Bulcock Street was supported by all the CBD Traders.
"Everyone was keen to see them lit up again for Christmas this year,” she said.
The Traders have been promoting Christmas in Bulcock Street during December including Santa's Workshop, free face painting, free balloon making and free photos with Santa. See www.facebook.com/christmaspromotion for more details and times.
“It's beginning to feel a lot like Christmas," said Tom O'Sullivan from Heart and Home Gift Shop.
“And the tree lights give Caloundra such a welcoming feel.”
The official switch on will take place at the Minchinton Street/Bulcock Street roundabout at 7pm tonight.
