Celebrate this historic hinterland heart’s new streetscape!
The revitalised streetscape of historic Landsborough is now complete, and you are invited to join the celebrations at the official opening!

With the community’s aspirations for this beautiful town heart now a reality, it’s time to celebrate the completion of upgrades to Cribb Street, which received partial funding from the Queensland Government.
Sunshine Coast Council completed the first stage of the Cribb Street streetscape project in 2021.
Now the second - and final - stage of the community-led improvement of Landsborough’s main street is open for the community to enjoy.
The project is part of the multi-stage Landsborough Placemaking Master Plan, endorsed by Council in January 2020.
Sunshine Coast Council Division 1 Councillor Jenny Broderick said the completed streetscape was a testament to what could be achieved when we worked together as a community.
“The Council team has worked with the Landsborough community over several years to develop the design for Cribb Street to beautify and improve the town’s strong community heart,” Cr Broderick said.
“It’s a great example of how we’re connecting and engaging with our communities to build a better future for everyone.
“The revitalised streetscape creates a stronger, more functional destination and beautiful town heart for locals to gather, and for visitors to experience our country charm.
“Thank you to all those who provided feedback throughout our extensive consultation on the Placemaking Master Plan and Cribb Street designs.”
Help us celebrate
The community is invited to a free community event to celebrate the newly transformed Cribb Street and Park in Landsborough.
Event details:
- Date: Saturday, November 23, 2024
- Time: 4pm to 6pm
- Location: Railways RSL Park, Landsborough
- Activities: Free sausage sizzle hosted by the Glasshouse Country Rotary Club, live music, and a new playground for kids.
“It’s going to be a great afternoon celebrating together, so bring a picnic rug, sit in the park and enjoy local live music and of course the kids will love the new playground.”
A place to enjoy
This final stage of the streetscape project provides an improved central gathering space for the community to come together.
Features of the new space include shelters and seating, a play space, lawn area for community events, more shade trees and creative lighting elements to build on the signature night-time lighting of the township.
Design that pays tribute to the past
Council has also installed an expanded heritage trail developed with the community.
“There are so many things that make Landsborough a special country town, steeped in heritage mixed with modern community spaces,” Cr Broderick said.
“It’s a town that grows richer with age and is an excellent place to visit, learn about local history and enjoy the cafes, historic pub, museum and shopping.
“The consultants worked with an artist to develop the special geometric 'pods' suspended within the arbour, providing shade during the day and feature lighting in the evening.
“The pods reference our region’s Bunya Nut trees, which were once plentiful in the area, providing food sources and a natural resource to support First Nations gatherings, trade and ceremony.”
