Sunshine Coast Council has agreed to release two reports to the public that explain the flood modelling in relation to Pelican Waters Boulevard.
Sunshine Coast Council has agreed to release two reports to the public that explain the flood modelling in relation to Pelican Waters Boulevard.
The reports, Pelican Waters Drainage Review by Parsons Brinkerhoff and Pelican Waters Boulevard Hydraulic Analysis by SKM, will be released by 1 December 2011.
Division 2 Councillor Tim Dwyer said before the reports are released all of the technical stakeholders will be given the opportunity to provide comments and additional information that can also be released to the public.
"Council’s interest is to achieve solutions to any flooding issues," Cr Dwyer said.
"These reports were commissioned by council and it is now important that the consultants are given the opportunity to provide further comments to help clarify information contained in the reports.
"The reports will be released to the public by 1 December this year."
Cr Dwyer said council is actively pursuing a collaborative approach to identifying and implementing a permanent solution to the flooding and drainage issues.
"A detailed review and hydraulic analysis has confirmed there are flooding and drainage concerns for sections of Pelican Waters Boulevard between the roundabouts at Caloundra Road and Marmont Street," he said.
"This is something that needs to be addressed to improve the flood risk in the area.
"Council has already commenced discussions with the Pelican Waters Estate Developer to identify appropriate design solutions."
Council will confirm when the reports are released on its website, either on or before 1 December.
