Cr Rogerson Nambour Aquatic Centre Roof
With the weather warming up and the UV rays intensifying, I’m very pleased to advise that the replacement of the roof sheeting at the Nambour Aquatic Centre has been completed in time for summer.
With the weather warming up and the UV rays intensifying, I’m very pleased to advise that the replacement of the roof sheeting at the Nambour Aquatic Centre has been completed in time for summer.
This will greatly improve the experience for Aquatic Centre patrons, providing cooler shade areas next to the 50m pool, the toddler wading pool and around the kiosk and amenities area.
Obi Obi bike show
It was terrific day at the Obi Obi Hall for their annual Motorcycle Show on Sunday September 25. The event was an important fundraiser for the hall and it was great to be able to provide them with some support for their cause.
Along with many glowing remarks on the day about the fantastic motorbike display, I had a lot of people comment to me on what a fantastic job members of the Obi Obi Hall committee had done in refurbishing the Hall back to its brilliant best. It’s a real credit to everybody involved!
I’d also like to say a big thankyou to the Mapleton Fire Brigade who ran a BBQ on the day to help raise funds for the Kenilworth First Responders. There were numerous other community organisations who also helped out on the day which was fantastic to see.
Our inspirational Paralympians
It was really great to welcome home our 13 local paralympians who did Australia proud during their Rio campaign. Mapleton identity, Ryan Tyack who won our first medal in Rio in archery, was also there in his Australian tracksuit to welcome home his fellow competitors.
While a tonne of blood, sweat, tears and sacrifice go along with every athlete who makes it to an Olympics, when you consider the additional hardships that paralympians overcome to get there, you simply cannot help but be completely and utterly inspired by these individuals.
Skate Park additions a giant hit
It’s fantastic to see the stage two works completed at the Nambour Youth Activity Centre on the corner of Matthew St and Anne St and people really enjoying the new additions together with the already completed Hero’s Walk and u beaut Skatepark. The new giant swing has been a real hit with visitors and the basketball half-court and soccer goal has really added a new dimension to this extremely popular community facility.
TransLink works
A number of new bus stops will soon be installed by the Department of Transport and Main Roads’ TransLink Division in Nambour and this will result in the loss of a number of car parking spaces.
Putting in new public transport services, often necessitate the removal of car parking spaces, which is unfortunate. What we need to realise though is that public transport plays an important role in providing more efficient options for commuters and it’s only going to become more important into the future.

Rounding off for now, Rogo.
