Popular Aussie crooner Daryl Braithwaite will replace Noiseworks at this year’s Caloundra Music Festival after the band was forced to cancel due to frontman Jon Stevens undergoing heart surgery this week.

Festival Director Richie Eyles said organisers had been swamped by emails following their call for festival goers to suggest who should replace Noiseworks.

“Daryl emerged as the big favourite and will now perform at the festival, back by popular demand,” Mr Eyles said.

“He played at the last two festivals and has become a local crowd favourite.

“In the meantime, our thoughts are with Jon Stevens and we wish him a full and speedy recovery.”

Other acts already announced for the festival include:

  • Friday 23 October – Hoodoo Gurus, Blue King Brown, Chase the Sun, The Hands and OKA
  • Saturday 24 October – Augie March, Josh Pyke, Bob Evans, Chase the Sun and The Wilson Pickers
  • Sunday 25 October – Daryl Braithwaite, Toni Childs, James Reyne, Kev Carmody and The Little Stevies.

Tickets to the festival, to be held at Kings Beach from October 23 to 25, have already been out-selling all previous years’ records, with some ticket types already sold out.

Tickets are available online at www.caloundramusicfestival.com or from council’s customer service centre in Caloundra.

Weekend tickets are priced from $105 for adults and $80 for youths/pensioners. Single day tickets are also available. For more information or to buy tickets, visit the festival website www.caloundramusicfestival.com
