What makes The Curated Plate different from other food festivals in Queensland is the fact that there is not one dedicated festival hub. Instead there are more than 40 venues and landscapes to experience throughout the region. Planning your trip to each event is an important part of the journey.

Sunshine Coast Transport Portfolio Councillor David Law said it was a great opportunity to enjoy some really creative food and drink experiences and think differently about how you might travel to your chosen event.

“The Council’s Transport Levy funds the ThinkChange travel behaviour change program and its initiatives to reduce car use, and we need people – in this case event patrons – to act on this principle,” Cr Law said.

“The Major Events team has been working with our ThinkChange team to make sure there are easy transport options, to help ease traffic and parking and lessen the carbon footprint of the three signature events.”

Chefs in Conversation | July 27 | Altitude Nine, Maroochydore

  • Public transport: the 614 bus stops at First Avenue and the 611, 615, 616 and 619 stops at Aerodrome Road / Maud Street. Additional bus services are accessible from the Maroochydore Station on Horton Parade. Walking time to / from the bus stops 1, 5 and 10 minute/s respectively. Translink Journey Planner
  • Walking: Altitude Nine is in the heart of the Maroochydore CBD and can be easily accessed on foot, it’s an easy 7 minute stroll from Sunshine Plaza and the Maroochydore Bus Station.
  • Bike riding: Bike parking is available on-street surrounding Altitude Nine as well as in the end-of-trip facilities at the PARKnGO Lightning Lane multi-deck car park.
  • E-scooters: Altitude Nine is within the Neuron operational area, and there is even a how to start riding guide from Neuron.
  • Car parking: PARKnGO Lightning Lane offers undercover paid parking and the Sunshine Coast Parade temporary car park offers 197 spaces, 2 motorcycle spaces and 6 accessible parking spaces at no cost on weekends.

Queensland Sunshine Pantry | July 28 | The Station, Bokarina

Public transport: Kinetic Buses will be running free buses to the Queensland Sunshine Pantry, from Caloundra, Landsborough, Kawana, Mooloolaba and Maroochydore every hour from 9am - 2pm. Most of the fleet on their network is accessible, which includes:

  • Low floor entry
  • A ramp
  • Allocated space for wheelchairs and mobility scooters

Bike riding and e-scooters: You could ride or scoot to The Station, Bokarina and experience the FREE Bike Valet that day.

ParknWalk: For drivers, you can carpool and park your car for FREE at the Kawana Sports Western Precinct, open from 9am - 4pm.

Sunshine Coast Asian Food Festival | August 3 and 4 | Spicers Tamarind Resort, Maleny

For the convenience of guests attending the Sunshine Coast Asian Food Festival on August 3 and 4, optional return bus transfers are available to be added to your ticket for $25 departing from Brisbane, Noosa, Caloundra and Mooloolaba – bookings essential.

A ParknRide shuttle will also run between Spicers Tamarind Resort and Maleny township.

This Curated Plate Food and Drink Festival is an initiative of the Sunshine Coast Council, supported by the Queensland Government, through Tourism & Events Queensland, the Food and Agribusiness Network and Visit Sunshine Coast.

Rethink: Can you plan ways to make life easier by doing things differently? For example, can you ask a friend or neighbour to do something for you on their trip, or can you offer to do something for your friend or neighbour on your trip?

Retime: Could you travel at a different time to avoid traffic? For example, can you leave for work a little later to avoid the peak and go for a walk, run or surf before you leave?

Reduce: Can you plan your day or week so that you make less trips? For example, can you share a lift with another parent to get your child to and from sport and after school activities? Can you order your shopping online and collect on your way home from work?

Remode: Are there short trips you make in the car that could be done by walking, scooting or cycling? For example, can you and your child walk, scoot or ride to school occasionally to avoid the traffic and improve your health and wellbeing?

Reroute: Can you take an alternate route that is less congested or access a closer activity? For example, can you support your local businesses more and have more time for yourself?
