Council’s Arthouse Cinema Nambour presents the classic film, Dirty Dancing, on Thursday, April 2 at 7pm.
Located within the Nambour Civic Centre, the Arthouse Cinema Nambour screens arthouse, independent and major Hollywood films weekly and also holds special event screenings on the first Thursday of each month.
The special event screenings are always a great night out with giveaways, best dressed competitions and the opportunity to take a beverage into the cinema from the licensed café.
Come along and see what all the fuss was about with the original movie which has now become a phenomenal stage production.
Take yourself back to the summer of 1963, and 17-year-old Frances “Baby” Houseman is about to learn some major lessons in life as well as a thing or two about dancing.
On holiday in New York’s Catskill Mountains with her older sister and parents, Baby shows little interest in the resort activities, and instead discovers her own entertainment when she stumbles upon the staff quarters when an all-night dance party is in full swing, carrying a watermelon!
Mesmerised by the dance moves and the pounding rhythms, Baby can’t wait to be part of the scene, especially when she catches sight of Johnny Castle the resort dance instructor.
Baby’s life is about to change forever as she is thrown in at the deep end as Johnny’s leading lady both on-stage and off with breathtaking consequences.
Tickets are $14 for adults, $11 for concession and full time students, $9 for Film Club Members and children. Tickets will be available on the night or to secure a seat book online www.scvenuesandevents.com.au
