Sunshine Coast Libraries are making homework even easier for parents and students via a new partnership with the University of the Sunshine Coast.
Sunshine Coast Libraries are making homework even easier for parents and students via a new partnership with the University of the Sunshine Coast.
Pre-service teachers currently studying Education at the University will be on site at a number of libraries to run Find it! Homework help and will be available once per week during school terms. These student teachers will be able to assist students and parents with curriculum queries, research, reader advisory and be on hand to help find information via online databases and websites.
Find it! Homework help will not only benefit students but also allow pre-service teachers to actively draw upon their growing knowledge and expertise as an educator and apply this in a new context. It also aims to provide school students the opportunity to receive informed advice and help from pre-service teachers and increase participants’ information literacy skills.
Sessions will be held at:
Kawana Library – Every Thursday from 4pm to 6pm
Maleny Library – Every Tuesday from 3.30pm to 5.30pm
Maroochydore Library – Every Wednesday from 4pm to 5.30pm
Noosa Library – Every Tuesday from 4pm to 6pm.
Sunshine Coast Libraries also offer homework assistance in a number of other ways including:
- Your Tutor: a real time online tutoring service available free Monday to Friday from 4pm to 8pm via the library website. Online tutors aid with English, maths, science and assignment writing queries.
- Information staff available at each branch, all day every day, to aid with research, information queries and reader advisory
- Online databases and professional websites available 24/7 via the library website http://www.library.sunshinecoast.qld.gov.au/
