Kawana Meeting Place gets gong

It’s a popular place for local community groups and the Kawana Forest Meeting Place on Woodlands Boulevard was also popular at the recent Master Builders Queensland Awards.

The venue was awarded first place in the ‘Sporting and Community Facilities up to $5 million’ category.

Division 1 Councillor Rick Baberowski said the Kawana Forest Meeting Place was an exceptional multi-function space for locals to meet and socialise in a range of community activities.

“This facility is a multi-function meeting venue that is perfectly matched to our climate and can accommodate up to 100 people in anything from small business seminars to yoga and fitness classes, bridge clubs, music lessons and children’s play groups,” he said.

“With a terraced outdoor area and smart interior design it’s little surprise the facility has been immensely praised and popular since it opened in June last year.

"It’s a credit to everyone - from council, Stockland, the architects and the builder - for creating this exceptional community venue."

The Kawana Forest Meeting Place was designed in conjunction with the Kawana Forest Residents Association (KaFRA) and complements both the private sector developments nearby and other community facilities in the area such as the Pacific Lutheran College sports hall, Meridan Fields Sports Complex and the Lake Kawana Community Centre.

The facility includes three flexible meeting rooms, a kitchenette, workshop/equipment storage and a terraced outdoor area that is used by numerous local groups including parents and other local members for social, recreation and educational services.
