Momentum builds as more plans unveiled for Maroochydore CBD
Sunshine Coast-based development company Evans Long has unveiled plans to create a premium commercial property in the new Maroochydore City Centre.
Sunshine Coast-based development company Evans Long has unveiled plans to create a premium commercial property in the new Maroochydore City Centre.
A five-storey building with 4460m2 of commercial office space will be constructed on a prime lot in the CBD’s core commercial precinct.
Negotiations are also well advanced with Maroochy H & P Pty Ltd to develop a 100-room business hotel with associated retail development.
The announcement follows news last year that global infrastructure and property development giant John Holland plans to develop a number of “super lots” in the first stage of the new city centre.
Sunshine Coast Mayor Mark Jamieson welcomed the commitments, indicating Evans Long is expected to start work on site in 2019, creating hundreds of local jobs both during and post construction.
“It is exciting to see the new CBD start to take shape and to be welcoming companies from both within and outside the region to the project,” Mayor Jamieson said.
“Ninety per cent of the lots in the core commercial precinct are under negotiation or contract, with a combined construction value of more than half a billion dollars.
“In addition, titles have now been issued for the first stage of the new city centre development, paving the way for progressive settlements of the new commercial lots.
“There is no doubt that with awareness of the new Maroochydore City Centre growing, together with our plan for our region, that momentum is building around this ground-breaking project.
“Many of the locals know we have something special here but we are also attracting attention from some major national and international investors and developers.”
Evans Long managing director Matt Evans said the new CBD offered the opportunity to provide premium commercial office space in a central location with outstanding facilities.
“The new city centre at Maroochydore aims to be one of the most technologically advanced CBDs in the country,” Mr Evans said.
“It is definitely appealing to company owners and employers to be able to offer their employees a professional, digitally-connected work environment combined with a coastal lifestyle.
“As a local development company, we wanted to demonstrate our support for what is an important new precinct for our growing region and we will be constructing a building that helps set the benchmark in terms of sustainability and smart technology."
SunCentral Maroochydore, the company overseeing design and delivery of the new city centre, confirmed that it had received numerous submissions from parties who recognised the potential of the project and the trajectory of the region.
SunCentral CEO John Knaggs said interest in the new CBD had been growing as the first stage of civil works were being completed.
“The interest is coming from a diverse range of sectors, including the health, education, technology and business sectors,” Mr Knaggs said.
“Because the new city centre is being built on a greenfield site, we have an opportunity to create a city centre with unprecedented communications and technological abilities.
“This is a major drawcard for companies seeking to establish, expand or re-locate, and we look forward to making further announcements about plans for other sites in the new CBD later this year.”
