Thanks to Sunshine Coast Council’s Road Reseal and Rehabilitation Program, locals and commuters along Mons School Road in Mons can enjoy a much smoother, safer journey.

Service Delivery Portfolio and Division 7 Councillor Ted Hungerford said the busy road’s major makeover was now complete.

“The $250,000 staged works to Mons School Road included pavement repair, removal of existing surface, bitumen spray sealing and full asphalt resurfacing,” Cr Hungerford said.

“The project was undertaken as part of Council’s Road Reseal and Rehabilitation Program, focused on delivering safe road network to Sunshine Coast residents and visitors.”

Cr Hungerford said Council was committed to providing and maintaining the necessary infrastructure to service the needs of the Sunshine Coast region in an environmentally responsible and cost effective manner.

“The Sunshine Coast sealed road network consists of 1,650 kms of asphalt surface and 720 kms of chip seal surface,” he said.

“Council has a number of key guiding principles we follow when servicing our road network.

“This includes using new technologies and practices considered to lower the whole of life cost of maintaining and renewing the network, and reducing the amount of moisture that penetrates the road pavement through maintaining the road surface.

“We also recycle materials where possible to minimise the consumption of natural resources in line with council’s sustainability objectives.”

Further information about the Sunshine Coast region’s road network can be found on Council’s website www.sunshinecoast.qld.gov.au.
