Council has launched its five year Corporate Plan to help deliver its vision for the Sunshine Coast to become the most sustainable region in Australia.

Mayor Mark Jamieson said the release of the new Corporate Plan coincided with the launch of a new corporate image for the new council which officially started on January 1 this year.

“This is a new council with a new plan, new image and new direction – determined to make us the most sustainable region in Australia,” Mayor Jamieson said

“In the first five months of this year there have been some encouraging signs: the biggest jobs growth in Queensland, a big jump in building applications and approvals, and a number of major projects continuing to take shape across the region.

“The Sunshine Coast Council Corporate Plan 2014-2019 will help build on that early success.

“It sets the strategic direction and priorities for council – while maintaining a strong focus on the core services we deliver for the community.

“Many people and organisations play a part in achieving a sustainable economy, environment and community - this plan focuses on the contribution council will make.

“We have identified five corporate goals: a new economy, a strong community, an enviable lifestyle, service excellence, and to be a public sector leader.

“We will service and support the community and build a region that is second to none.

“This means growing business confidence, sensible planning and ongoing care of our environment and natural assets, and maintaining and celebrating the lifestyle and character of our communities.

“This region will continue to grow, as major developments like the new city centre in Maroochydore and the new university hospital at Kawana take shape. Council recognises the important responsibility it carries in managing the community's expectations as this growth occurs.

“The corporate plan will allow us to travel in a new direction. The new corporate image is a reflection of that proactive approach.

“It captures the modern and creative organisation that is the Sunshine Coast Council – with the colours representing the dimensions of our region: commercial, recreational and lifestyle.

“The design is a collaborative effort by council staff and local company Ems Creative and includes input from employees and the wider Sunshine Coast community.”
