New project 'a game changer' for Forest Glen

Council has approved a 221 lot resort style residential apartment and townhouse project at Forest Glen which has been described as a game changer for the local community by the site’s owner Michael Cullen.

The Buderim Forest project is located at the corner of Mons Road and Owens Creek Road and includes 121 two and three-bedroom townhouses, as well as 100 two-bedroom apartments.

Mr Cullen said the 80,657sq m site would be a landmark project for the local area which would eventually become home to up to 800 people.

“Council is to be applauded for the way they helped to facilitate the approval of this medium density project,” Mr Cullen said.

“The support we have received from all staff, and particularly their Planning Department, was exceptional and has ensured an outstanding outcome for the site.

“Buderim Forest is the first major residential project approved for this area and it’s in a stunning location set among rainforest and within easy access to the local shops including the recently revamped Kunara Organic Marketplace, as well as Sunshine Coast Grammar School, the University of the Sunshine Coast and central Buderim.

“Hundreds of new jobs will be created through the construction phase and I am keen to engage as many local suppliers and contractors as possible to work on the project.

“Demand should also be strong due to the site’s central location and the diversity of housing on offer which will appeal to singles, couples, families, retirees and university students.”

Sunshine Coast Division 7 Councillor Ted Hungerford said residents of Buderim Forest would enjoy a quiet, relaxed lifestyle where surrounding open space, rural and bushland vistas and privacy would be key features.

“With easy access to Buderim and other parts of the Coast I believe this development in Forest Glen will become a highly desirable place to live,” Cr Hungerford said.

Andrew Stevens, from KHA Development Managers, said the site would have a strong resort theme with lush landscaping and communal space including barbecue pavilions, three swimming pools, sitting decks and walking paths.

“Buderim Forest has been designed by local architectural firm Sprout whose main brief from Mr Cullen was to create a project of the highest standards to reflect the quality and ambience of the location,” Mr Stevens said.

“We’ve also included provision for a 440m walkway which is 10m wide as part of the restored Palmwoods Tramway Recreational Trail which I am sure will become a hugely popular with local residents.”

Mr Stevens said he expected construction would commence at Buderim Forest before the end of the year.
