Sunshine Coast Council is commencing a detailed design for a boat ramp at Nojoor Rd in Twin Waters.

Division 8 Councillor Debbie Blumel said that she is disappointed that feedback from state agencies has meant a scaling down of the proposed size for the car park and boat ramp.

"Council would prefer to apply for a double lane boat ramp as we understand that is what the community have been asking for," Cr Blumel said.

"In our initial negotiations with four state agencies we sought a double lane boat ramp.

"State Government agencies have indicated that a double lane boat ramp and larger car park is not possible in that location.

"We have been left with no option but to proceed with a single lane boat ramp. So we are going to get on with the detailed design so that we can get things done for local boating people.

"Council’s detailed design must still be submitted to the State Government for approval from various state agencies before works can actually start.

"The detailed design submission will include a 15 car bay and boat trailer parking, plus a single lane boat ramp and other associated features.

"If approval is obtained council is expected to construct the car and trailer parking area while the Department of Transport and Main Roads will plan for funding for the construction of the boat ramp."

The appointment of a design consultant is expected to be made this week and council will keep the community updated with progress as the design gets underway.
