Noosa’s reputation as a safe place to swim just got better, with Sunshine Coast Council today relocating the lifeguard tower on Noosa’s Main Beach to improve beach visibility and swimmer safety.
Relocation of the lifeguard tower is part of the Noosa Main Beach boardwalk upgrade project.
Division 11 Councillor Russell Green said that the stage 3 upgrade works were carefully planned and designed to ensure safety and suitability, while remaining consistent with Noosa’s iconic style.
"Close consultation with council’s professional lifeguard service and the Noosa Heads Surf Club identified that relocating the tower would result in improved visibility and safety on the beach," Cr Green said.
"This tower was designed by acclaimed local architect Maurice Hurst and encompasses the Noosa Style elements for which Hurst was renowned.
"I am really pleased that we are able to relocate the existing building rather than replace it."
Local company, Noosa Engineering and Crane Hire (NEACH), in conjunction with Mark Johnson Building, have been contracted by council to undertake this delicate relocation project.
