Sunshine Coast Division 1 Councillor Rick Baberowski and AVID Property Group celebrated the official opening of Peter Crosby Way – the gateway to Palmview’s largest masterplanned community, Harmony.

The road will be used by 12,000 future Harmony residents, as well as those in neighbouring communities.

Division 1 Councillor Rick Baberowski said the event was a landmark day for residential development in Palmview.

“The opening of Peter Crosby Way is a significant milestone for this area of the Sunshine Coast,” Cr Baberowski said.

“This is a particularly significant moment in the creation of the future community of Harmony, which will bring an important expansion of choice in housing styles in a new location on the coast.

“Council is pleased to have helped to accelerate the delivery of key infrastructure for the community by providing up to $9 million for the main road, which will be repaid to council as lots are sold off.

“Harmony’s main entry road – Peter Crosby Way – will not only service future Harmony residents and those in neighbouring communities. It will also acknowledge the site’s connection to the Crosby family.

“With the Sunshine Coast’s population continuing to grow over the next 20 years, the masterplanned community of Harmony is delivering much-needed housing to meet demand in the region, as well as generating 9,000 jobs through the delivery of the project.

“Steady and sustainable growth in developments like Palmview continues to support our vision, as we focus on delivering Australia’s leading healthy, smart and creative region – for today and for generations to come.”

AVID Property Group General Manager Bruce Harper said the road’s name pays homage to the site’s Crosby family history.

“The Crosby family’s relationship with the Sunshine Coast spans over a century and there is no more fitting name for the road than Peter Crosby Way,” Mr Harper said.

“As the gateway to the community, the opening of the road is an exciting day for Harmony and this is just the beginning of a number of major construction milestones coming up this year.

“Over the next 15 to 20 years, Harmony will deliver more than 4,800 quality homes, 100 hectares of parklands and a new Town Centre.”

Peter Crosby’s son Ben Crosby said it is an honour to have the main road named after his late father.

“My father was known for his hard working values, connection to the land and humble community leadership,” Mr Crosby said.

“He was actively involved in serving the community and was awarded the Paul Harris Fellowship through the Rotary Foundation. He was also an active member of the Sunshine Coast Agricultural Show Society.

“We are humbled that the road has been named after him and this is a great way to honour his legacy in Palmview.”
