Sunshine Coast Council has a designated phone number for enquiries about anything to do with planning assessments.

Director Development Services Julie Edwards said the new number is another way council is improving development application services locally.

"The phone number is for people who are thinking about putting in planning and development applications and people who have already lodged an application," Ms Edwards said.

"It doesn’t matter what size or scale the project is, we encourage all planning and development enquiries to be made directly to the 5475 PLAN number.

"Specialist staff familiar with planning and development processes answer phone calls made directly to the phone number.

"We have been trialling the service for the past few months and have received great feedback from our planning customers.

"People appreciate that they can ring straight through to development services staff and have their questions answered on the spot."
