Caloundra Regional Gallery will celebrate the upcoming 50th Anniversary of the ultimate surfing cult film, The Endless Summer with a special screening on Thursday 12 December from 6pm to 9.30pm.
The community are invited to reminisce the 70’s and attend the screening of this classic film which will be accompanied by some renowned Aussie surf grooves played on a classic Pioneer turntable and speakers.
The Endless Summer is the ultimate surfing adventure, crossing the globe in search of the perfect wave. From the uncharted waters of West Africa, to the shark-filled seas of Australia, to the tropical paradise of Tahiti and beyond, California surfers accomplish in a few months what most people never do in a lifetime and they lived their dream.
Director Bruce Brown created a film so powerful it has become a timeless masterpiece that continues to capture the imagination of every new generation. When it first played in theatres, audiences lined up to see it again and again, spellbound by its thrilling excitement and awesome photography. But in fact, what's most compelling about the film is the sport of surfing itself, and once you've seen it, you'll never forget why.
In keeping with the nostalgic theme the cost to attend is set at 1970’s prices - just $5 a ticket and this includes ‘cinema’ refreshments. There will also be a cash bar and music from 6pm, with the film showing at 7.30pm.
Endless Summer limited edition collectable movie posters will also be available for sale. Bookings and prepayment are essential for this fun event. Please note, attendees must be 18 years or over to attend as the film is rated M.
