Parking has become a whole lot easier for sports enthusiasts in Caloundra following the completion of a car park upgrade at the Reserve 1000 sports complex at Golden Beach.

Division Two Councillor Tim Dwyer said the renovated facility provided increased parking options for Caloundra’s sporting community.

“Following the recently completed upgrade, the new Reserve 1000 car park now features 131 parking spaces, and the new layout improves vehicle movement as well as pedestrian safety,” Cr Dwyer said.

“The new car park features formalised parking to increase parking capacity and improvements have also been made to drainage at the site to reduce the likelihood of flooding, making the car park usable for Caloundra City Soccer Club, and other groups year-round.

“The preservation of significant native vegetation was a priority during the upgrade, and trees that needed to be removed have been replaced as part of the project.”

Upgrading the car park began in November 2015 and required the design of a new layout, landscaping, kerb and pavement placement, footpath realignment, asphalting, and line marking.
