Sunshine Coast Council, in conjunction with Red Chair, presents Brisbane’s finest cabaret Women in Voice for one performance only at Lake Kawana Community Centre at 7.30pm on Saturday 1 September 2012.

From humble beginnings at a funky upstairs venue in Brisbane’s West End, to large-scale international productions at Queensland Performing Arts Centre and Sydney’s Star City Showroom, Women in Voice has had an impressive journey. Artists who have featured over the years include legends such as Chrissie Amphlett, Deborah Conway, Jenny Morris, Katie Noonan, Jeannie Lewis, Deborah Cheetham, Leah Cotterell and Kate Miller-Heidke.

Women in Voice is a phenomenon - a courageous concept of showcasing talented female vocalists in an upfront, uncomplicated manner that results in one of the liveliest, funniest and most professional music theatre shows Brisbane has ever produced.

A collection of Queensland’s finest, most versatile performers have come together to form Women in Voice including Alison St Ledger, Lil’ Fi, Kacey Patrick and Melissa Western. Their voices are complemented by guest performers Helen Russell (double bass), Jamie Clark (guitar), Steve Russell (keyboard) and John Parker (percussion).

Alison St Ledger is one of Queensland’s finest and most versatile singer songwriters, and has worked with many of the country’s great performers including Powder Finger and Katie Noonan. She recently performed in the Matilda Award-winning Tom Waits for No Man.

Five times Female Vocalist of the Year at the Australian Blues Music Awards, Lil' Fi is a dynamic performer of folk, blues, gospel, funk and R&B. She is a dynamic entertainer with a unique songwriting style.

Kacey Patrick’s three-octave range is a rare instrument capable of expressing profound emotion. Kacey is best known for her performances with Stringmansassy and The Saruzu Quartet.

Melissa Western is a Brisbane girl who honed her skills in London and New York and is a cabaret singer of the sultry jazz club variety. She is a stunning, soulful performer who straddles the worlds of jazz, cabaret and theatre, and has wowed audiences world wide with her rich velvety voice.

Don’t miss this heartfelt and hilarious music theatre experience. Cost to attend is $39 for adults, $35 concessions and groups of eight or more. Tickets can be purchased in advance by calling Lake Kawana Community Centre on 5413 1400, online at council’s website or visit the Box Office located at 114 Sportsmans Parade, Bokarina. Women in Voice is a cabaret style show where you can relax and enjoy refreshments at your table. Please note it is strictly an 18 years+ event.
