Shaping a future for Division 10

Committing $500,000 to the Nambour Heritage Tram and $715,000 to upgrade the terraces at the Eumundi Markets site are just some of the Division 10 projects to be delivered in Sunshine Coast Council's $588 million budget.

Committing $500,000 to the Nambour Heritage Tram and $715,000 to upgrade the terraces at the Eumundi Markets site are just some of the Division 10 projects to be delivered in Sunshine Coast Council’s $588 million budget.

Divisional councillor Greg Rogerson said the 2015-16 budget included a mix of projects to shape a positive future by growing the economy and protecting and enhancing the environment.

“Council is investing in a wide range of projects which will be of great benefit to Division 10 residents,” Cr Rogerson said.

“There are some very exciting upgrades, new facilities and other improvements slated for our division this year which demonstrate Council’s proactive approach to becoming Australia’s most sustainable region – vibrant, green, and diverse.

“Major improvements to the Nambour Showgrounds and the Eumundi Markets site will benefit some of our most popular local events and, in turn, attract visitors to help us develop a sustainable economy.

“I’m also pleased to announce $500,000 for the Nambour Heritage Tram. It’s part of a three year $1.5 million contribution to show our community that Council has skin in the game and is committed to this project.

“Another staged contribution is this year’s $50,000 towards the new toilet block in Kenilworth’s Isaac Moore Park, which will provide both much needed-amenities and become an iconic piece of public art.

“There’s also an extensive list of operational infrastructure projects. For example, we will be making stormwater improvements right across the region including key areas in Yandina and Parklands.

“Nambour Youth Activity Precinct, Nambour Central Park and Dick Caplick Park in Eumundi are three community spaces which will receive a boost this year.”

Division 10 budget highlights include:

  • $1.8 million road reseals and rehabilitations
  • $715,000 for improvements to the Eumundi Markets site
  • $630,000 for upgrades at Nambour Quarry
  • $610,000 for the staged implementation of Nambour Showgrounds master plan
  • $600,000 to complete part sealing of Delicia Rd in Mapleton, which started in 2014-15
  • $324,000 to improve stormwater infrastructure across Division 10
  • $250,000 for further improvements to the Youth Activity Precinct in Quota Park, Nambour
  • $239,000 for the renewal of Nambour Aquatic Centre
  • $220,000 for the renewal of Dick Caplick Park in Eumundi
  • $200,000 to seal the Mapleton Lilyponds car park on Delicia Rd, Mapleton
  • $90,000 to renew pathway on Coronation Ave in Nambour
  • $50,000 towards a new toilet block at Isaac Moore Park in Kenilworth
  • $40,000 to treat corrosion of the Wappa Dam bridge
