Sunshine Coast Regional Council is calling on young people aged 12 to 25 with a passion for events work to register their interest now in Shout Out Loud, which takes place on 4 July, at The J, Noosa.
There are plenty of opportunities to get involved in interesting roles such as stage managers, sound and lighting technicians, MC, ushers and artist liaison.
Already firing up the festival preparations are this year’s Shout Out Loud Youth Coordinators Barbara Gracey (Community Engagement) and Michelle O’Brien (PR and Programming).
Barbara has previous experience working on other local youth and community engagement projects and has come onboard to engage local school and community groups in preparing original creative work for Shout Out Loud and to oversee the Get Connected Residency Project.
Michelle is enjoying the experience on home turf after living overseas where she worked for the Edinburgh Fringe Festival. Her role will involve getting young artists, bands and performers involved in the festival as well as promoting the final event.
Community Engagement Portfolio Councillor Christian Dickson said: “This festival is all about young people and what better way to ensure we get a great festival than engaging young people in taking on roles to produce this year’s event.
“Each year the festival changes and grows depending on the young people involved in it and I think that’s what makes it really exciting.”
Young people aged 12 to 25 are encouraged to register their interest in Shout Out Loud as a youth events workers, artists, performers or anything else creative by emailing [email protected] or by calling 5449 5116. Applications close 22 May, 2009.
