Sunshine Coast Airport will see Tiger Airways Australia’s seven millionth passenger enter through its doors this Friday (25 March 2011).
The local Sunshine Coast resident is booked to fly with friends and family to Melbourne this Friday on flight TT 5543, departing Sunshine Coast Airport at 2:15pm.
The lucky passenger will be greeted at the airport by Sunshine Coast Airport General Manager Peter Pallot and will receive a Tiger Airways travel voucher for future flights to use on any of Tiger Airways’ routes nationwide.
This is great news for the winning passenger who says “we’re regular Tiger Airways flyers. We’re flying to Melbourne with Tiger this weekend for a wedding and the first round of the AFL. We love Tiger’s low fares – especially during the AFL season. We’ve also just booked a flight on the new Tiger Airways’ Sunshine Coast – Sydney route,” she says.
The seven millionth passenger milestone has been achieved in just over three years of operation for Tiger Airways Australia and represents huge consumer demand for affordable air travel.
The milestone comes just days ahead of the launch of new daily services between Sunshine Coast and Sydney commencing from this weekend (27 March 2011).
“This new (Sydney – Sunshine Coast) route provides a great opportunity for Sydney-siders to access a Sunshine Coast getaway at great prices and of course new opportunities for locals to travel to Sydney for less than ever before with Tiger’s famous low fares,” says Crawford Rix, Tiger Airways Australia Managing Director.
“Our low fares stimulate demand and liberate people to fly by air more often for much less than ever before,” says Mr Rix.
Sunshine Coast Airport General Manager Peter Pallot said the introduction of this new service is a great boost to the region’s tourism industry.
“The new service confirms what we all know to be true - that the Sunshine Coast region is still one of Australia’s top tourism destinations. This new Tiger Airways’ Sydney to Sunshine Coast route will provide over 130,000 additional seats annually,” Peter Pallot said.
As part of the celebrations, Tiger Airways is offering airfares on both the Sunshine Coast – Melbourne route and the Sunshine coast – Sydney route, from just $1* in a sale commencing today (Friday 25 March 2011) which runs until midnight Thursday (31 March 2011) or until the limited seats are sold out.
The sale fares from just $1* are expected to be snapped up quick and as usual, Tiger’s Stripes members can enjoy a 24 hour head start, as they do with all the special promotions across the Tiger network.
