Sunshine Coast Council announces annual Caloundra parking amnesty
This year's parking amnesty will run from December 13, 2024 to January 5, 2025, offering residents and visitors free parking during the bustling holiday season.
Sunshine Coast Council is pleased to announce the return of the annual Caloundra parking amnesty, a beloved tradition since 2013. This year's amnesty will run from December 13, 2024 to January 5, 2025, offering residents and visitors free parking during the bustling holiday season.
During this period, parking meters in downtown Caloundra will be switched off, allowing for free parking.
However, signed time limits will still be enforced to ensure fair access to parking spaces.
Parking officers will be on patrol to ensure compliance with these regulations, helping to optimise parking availability throughout the Christmas holidays.
Division 2 Councillor Terry Landsberg said the Caloundra parking amnesty was a legacy arrangement reviewed annually to ensure it met current conditions.
“This initiative supports local businesses by encouraging more visitors and helps manage parking demand during one of the busiest times of the year,” Cr Landsberg said.
“Funds raised from Caloundra’s parking meters throughout the year are reinvested into various projects in downtown Caloundra, including street activation, public facilities, and business support programs.
“These efforts contribute to the vibrant and welcoming atmosphere that Caloundra is known for.”
