Cottee Parker, an award-winning national practice with experience in delivering contemporary urban designs, has been appointed Principal Architect to the Sunshine Coast Council City Hall project.

The City Hall will be located on the 53 hectare greenfield Maroochydore City Centre – the site of Australia’s next smart city.

Business Performance Group Executive Jeanette Allom-Hill said Cottee Parker had an Australia-wide presence and had been involved in major projects such as Youi’s global headquarters on the Sunshine Coast, Mercedes Autohaus at Newstead and Queen’s Wharf in Brisbane City.

“In addition to a highly competitive pricing structure, Cottee Parker offers capability and expertise including national and local experience and a professional design team with strong credentials and a proven track record to work on this significant project,” Ms Allom-Hill said.

“Council is seeking to ensure we deliver a contemporary building which reflects our vision to be Australia’s most sustainable region – healthy, smart, creative.

“The Maroochydore City Centre is being transformed into a CBD for the 21st century.

“This is a region-making project which will drive significant economic, employment and service opportunities for our community through innovation and technological advancement.

“The Sunshine Coast City Hall project will be an important ingredient in the success of the city centre.

“It will establish a council presence in the geographic heart of the region, expanding our connections with, and accessibility to, our customers.

Ms Allom-Hill said given the nature and scale of this project, council would also procure a consultancy team of leaders and innovators in their respective fields, to deliver solutions for a range of components ranging from hydraulics to landscaping.

“Council wants to provide opportunities for local suppliers when procuring the remainder of the design consultancy team. This will be undertaken through open tender and request for quote processes.”

Cottee Parker Architects Director Martin Timms said the firm was excited to bring 30 years of experience and knowledge to the Sunshine Coast City Hall project.

“Cottee Parker Architects will be working closely with the Sunshine Coast Council to deliver a central civic space the community will view with pride and will be seen as a local and regional landmark,” Mr Timms said.

“We are a national architecture practice which consistently strives to deliver creative design solutions for projects across Australia.

“Combining intellect with creativity, we produce timeless architecture that creates meaningful outcomes for our clients and the community.

“Cottee Parker offers a unique approach to the design of our projects, utilising a truly integrated and diverse team of specialist architects and designers to provide a unique and innovative architectural solution.

“With experience across Australia, our team of 180 delivers world-class design solutions for the built environment and we look forward to delivering again for the Sunshine Coast City Hall.”
