ARIA Award winners The Waifs return to Council’s Nambour Civic Centre in support of their brand new album, Beautiful You on Thursday, October 15 at 7.30pm.

From humble beginnings travelling in a hippy van along the highways of Australia to flying around the world, the incredible journey of The Waifs is a beautiful story to tell and they continue to tell it with through their music and live shows.

It all began as sisters and singers Donna and Vikki set off from their home town in Albany, Western Australia to pursue their passion of music. Just a short 27-hour drive north, the sisters met Josh in Broome and just like that the Waifs were formed.

The group forged their way on the Australian live circuit for most of the 1990s, releasing albums such as their self-titled debut in 1996 and Shelter Me in 1998, selling them mostly at shows. The third album,  Sink or Swim in 2000, raised their profile and allowed the band to perform in Canada and the United States, attracting rave reviews in the process.

The Waifs emerged from Studio 301 in Byron Bay earlier this year with their seventh studio LP, Beautiful You, produced by Nick DiDia who created albums for Bruce Springsteen, Pearl Jam and Powderfinger. Written between the USA and Fremantle, Beautiful You is a collection of songs that merges three separate songwriters into a glorious cohesive musical feast.

The 12 new tracks - four from Donna, three from Josh and five from Vikki - play to the strengths of one of Australia’s most enduring and lauded folk, pop and roots outfits. There’s a familiar mix  of celebration and reflection, combined with that easy musical energy and intuition spawned from so many years of touring, whether in the pubs of rural Australia in the early days or on the road internationally ever since then.

Beautiful You boasts abundant choruses, intoxicating instrumental exchanges and joyful harmonies - the characteristics that made the band’s hits London Still, Bridal Train and Sun Dirt Water.

Tickets are $53 per person and can be purchased by visiting www.scvenuesandevents.com.au or by calling Nambour Civic Centre on 5475 7777.

The Nambour Civic Centre is located on the upper level of the Centenary Square complex, 52 – 64 Currie Street, Nambour. Parking is available via Mill Street across from the Coles Supermarket.
