The Butter Factory Arts Centre (Cooroy) and The J in conjunction with funding partner Festivals Australia, are launching this year's GET CONNECTED: youth arts residency program that gives young people (10 - 17years) an opportunity to work with professional artists to create a new performance for this year's SHOUT OUT LOUD: youth arts festival in June.

This year's program will feature Backbone Youth Arts, Queensland's leading youth Theatre Company, specialising in facilitating opportunities for children and young people to stage new works with and for young people.

This year's featured tutors: Backbone Youth Arts

As a young playwrite Matthew Ryan has had great success - his first play was short-listed by Queensland Theatre Company for their George Landen Award, his second play won the award and was produced by the company later that year. His third play was selected for a public reading program held in America, England, Sigapore and Canada, and his 4th play in 2007, Summer Wonderland was produced by Laboite Theatre, published by Playlab Press and is in development as a feature film with New Holland Pictures.

After graduating from the prestigious Queensland University of Technology Acting Program, Louise Brehmer has had extensive performance experience with professional theatre companies such as Queensland Theatre Company and La Boite; at festivals including Straight Out Of Brisbane and Qld Poetry Festival, and in feature length and short films. She will bring her acting, directing and teaching skills to the Theatre Bootcamp project.

Workshops will be run at The J, Noosa Junction on Mondays 4-6pm from 31 March - 18 June or at the Butter Factory Arts Centre, Cooroy on Tuesdays 4-6pm from 1 April - 17 June. Places are limited - to register your interest contact Sunshine Coast Regional Council on 5449 5104.
