Two earthquakes off Queensland coast today
Two earthquakes have occurred off the Queensland coast today. These are aftershocks following Thursday's (July 30) 5.2 magnitude earthquake. There is no threat of tsunami in relation to these events and no reports of damage or injury at this time.
Two earthquakes have occurred off the Queensland coast today.
The first, a 5.7 magnitude earthquake, occurred about 236km north-east of Brisbane, near the Coral Sea at 1.38pm
The second, a 5.1 magnitude earthquake, occurred 133km north-east of Rainbow Beach, at 2.46pm.
Sunshine Coast Council Local Disaster Management Group (LDMG) Coordinator John Gallina said these were aftershocks following Thursday’s (July 30) 5.2 magnitude earthquake.
“There is no threat of tsunami in relation to these events and no reports of damage or injury at this time,” Mr Gallina said.
“Sunshine Coast LDMG moved into alert status as a precautionary measure and will remain at alert status until all reports are clear of any issues or consequence from this tremor.”
