“Unplug from the ordinary as adventure awaits” when Wanderlust returns to the Sunshine Coast for the second year, starting from Thursday (October 20).
The four-day lifestyle and music event, which runs until Sunday, is a celebration of mindful living where an estimated 2000 like-minded people will learn about their bodies, their minds, their world and how their actions affect our environment.
The event features internationally renowned yoga instructors, guest speakers and leaders in green-living, music from world-class musical acts, top chefs, craft brewers and winemakers.
New to this year’s festival are one-day music only sessions headlined by internationally renowned Xavier Rudd.
Tourism, Sport and Major Events Portfolio Councillor Jason OPray said the unique lifestyle event will attract a large number of visitors from South-East Queensland and interstate.
“We estimate that the large majority of the 2000 attendees will come from the drive market, or interstate,” Cr OPray said.
“Wanderlust is a great example of a major event which attracts visitors to our region.
“While they are here they’re here they’ll get to experience our beautiful surrounds and great hospitality and be enticed to visit again as tourists.
“Wanderlust is also one of 60 major and regional events hosted on the Sunshine Coast this year, and is the last event to be featured in the World is Coming campaign.
“This unprecedented schedule of diverse lifestyle, sporting and music events will generate about $100 million in economic activity and attract more than 150,000 guests from 70 different countries.”
Event director Jonnie Halstead said the festival entices attendees to find their “true north”.
“We bring together a remarkable group of yoga and meditation instructors, musical performers, speakers, artists and chefs for a transformational retreat on the beautiful Sunshine Coast,” Mr Halstead said.
“Wanderlust is an experience that will get into your mind, body and soul.
“Regardless of what starts you on your path, Wanderlust is an experience that will leave you different than when you came — with new ideas, new friends, newly-discovered abilities, and greater peace.”
