Venue 114 has announced the exciting line-up for its second LIVE@114 music event taking place on Saturday 21 November from 7pm at Bokarina.
Well known DJ Jesswah will mix it up and spin the first set, followed by The Dawn Light, Dear Doonan and headline act Band of Frequencies.
Band of Frequencies is one of Australia's premier coastal roots bands and since 2005 the popular group has been constantly throwing their influences into the creative fires to see what melts, what explodes and what merges.
In the process, they have forged a bond of elements that highlights the band's chemistry, represents their Sunshine Coast roots and has led to invitations to play at a diverse array of festivals both at home and abroad.
Lead singer Shannon Sol Carroll said the band was thrilled to be coming to Venue 114.
“We’ve been looking forward to bringing our sounds and projected visuals to Venue 114 and we’re stoked to be performing live on the Sunny Coast with one another,” he said.
Band Of Frequencies has appeared on several renowned internationally released surf film soundtracks including Men Of Wood & Foam by Phil Jarratt, Under The Sun by Cyrus Sutton, The Present by Thomas Campbell, The Transparentsea Voyage by Justin Krumb, Life Like Liquid by Dave Rastovich and a series of short films by influential surfer George Greenough.
They've opened for Donovan Frankenreiter at Cosmic Creek Surf Festival in California as well as at the North Shore Film Festival in Hawaii; supported G. Love, The John Butler Trio, Bernard Fanning, The Cruel Sea, The Living End, Skunkhour, The Beautiful Girls and ARIA-nominated Ash Grunwald to name a few.
The Dawn Light is an exciting new project by Angela Iimura & Oj Newcomb which also features highly acclaimed musicians Brodie Graham (T H U M P, Band of Frequencies, The New Buzz, Andrea Kirwin Band, Golden Sound, Dave Orr Band) on guitar when performing as a trio and Charles Wall (aka Bobby Alu) on drums when performing as a quartet.
After many years of deeply connecting with the profound verses of the great mystic poets – Hafiz and Francis Brabazon – Angela began to use their poems as lyrics, writing songs that could be described as a dear companion to the human spirit, shedding beams of light, joy and inspiration on the path of life.
To share the love, Angela teamed up with her husband and music partner Oj Newcomb (The John Butler Trio, Afro Dizzi Act, Band of Frequencies) to bring to life The Dawn Light, named after one of Francis Brabazon's poems.
A sunburnt six piece, dripping wet with psychedelia and a folk rock boast. Bringing the froth to each and every show, while stealing your hearts and filling the void with an addictive flow. Dear Doonan’s music is kaleidoscopic and seamlessly arranged.
For the past 10 years Jesswah has made a mark as a DJ on the Sunshine Coast. Previously working at the live music venue Solbar for more than seven years, Jesswah has the skills to get a dance floor moving! With a style that is based around funk, hip hop and reggae, there are flavours for everyone in a Jesswah set.
