Vodafone takes connectivity speeds to new levels
Vodafone Hutchison Australia has now completed a major new optic fibre build to the Sunshine Coast.
Vodafone Hutchison Australia has now completed a major new optic fibre build to the Sunshine Coast.
This new multi-million-dollar fibre build from Noosa Heads to Brisbane means better broadband for areas inadequately serviced by current internet providers.
The network is now fully operational and adds real value to the region’s digital infrastructure.
Sunshine Coast councillor and economic development (emerging industries) portfolio holder Stephen Robinson said this major investment was another indication the region is catching up to the capital cities in terms of broadband connectivity.
"We know that around the world, when broadband speeds double, the benefit to our economy is significant,” he said.
“This project will deliver benefits to the Vodafone mobile network and also strategic benefits to the urban centres across the coast from Caloundra to Noosa Heads and everywhere in between.
“For many years businesses have been looking for more carriers to offer higher speeds and greater data allowances at capital city pricing.
“Now that time has arrived,” he said.
Michael Whereat, council’s Broadband and Digital Economy Manager, said it will also help with the business case for relocating to the Sunshine Coast.
"We have added this network to our database and prospective businesses can request advice on where multiple carrier services are located,” he said.
“This will make a real difference.”
