Using an epic 3km of LED fairy lights, trees across the Sunshine Coast are sparkling to celebrate the festive season.

This year, thanks to Sunshine Coast Council, 25 trees will brighten local communities with twinkling lights and decorations.

Pop on some Christmas tunes and take an evening walk or drive and check out some of the trees in our region, including Caloundra, Buderim, Coolum, Alexandra Headland, Maleny, Kenilworth and Nambour.

No matter where you live on the Coast, there is sure to be a wonderfully decorated tree in a town near you.

Wurtulla: Crummunda Park

Nestled along the shores of Currimundi Lake, Crummunda Park is loved by locals for its abundance of natural shade, cool breeze, playground and picnic areas.

Enjoy an evening barbecue along the waterfront and watch the beautiful fig tree sparkle as the night sets in. Decked with bright lights and decorations these festive lights will provide the perfect backdrop to this season’s local celebrations.

Eumundi: Dick Caplick Park 

Located in the heart of Eumundi and prominent on the main street, these festive lights add to the charm and character of this community. The mature fig tree, opposite the Imperial Hotel displays colourful lights and lit decorations.

Dick Caplick Park is located beside the popular Eumundi Markets square and across the road from community shops and restaurants. It contains a children's playground with plenty of challenging equipment, a half basketball court and half netball court and open grass areas. Stay for a picnic and enjoy the afternoon shade and stay to watch the park twinkle after the sun sets.

Alexandra Headland: Buhk Family Park

Located right on the beachfront to the north of the Alex Surf Club, one of the park’s tall pine trees gleams brightly with lights and decorations and of course, a star at the top for the festive season.

Stay for a swim, settle in for a barbecue and picnic as the kids will enjoy plentiful activities with the skate park and playground while waiting for the evening Christmas lights to shine.

Cotton Tree: Cotton Tree Park

A family favourite, Cotton Tree certainly has plenty to offer with a playground stretching along the riverfront park and sheltered by the namesake cotton trees that grow abundantly along the banks of the river here.

With easy access to the calm waters of the riverfront, stay for swim, play or stroll along the Coastal Pathway and setup a picnic to bask in the beauty of the sunset. After sunset wonder over to the sparkling tree near the Aquatic Centre for some Christmas cheer.
