Children’s workshop series Wing It! will bring together local and visiting artists to set children’s imaginations soaring from December 12-January 18.
From weaving, carving, paint and print, to sound recording, sculpture and story, this holiday program has something to delight and inspire everyone.
The program will be hosted at the Sunshine Coast’s family friendly conservation reserves, including the well-known Mary Cairncross Scenic Reserve in Maleny, and the treasured, yet tuckedaway Maroochy Regional Bushland Botanic Gardens in Tanawha.
But it’s not just the kids that get to have all the fun- world-renowned Brisbane-based artist Jane du Rand, will host a workshop on December 16 at the Bushland Botanic Gardens for adults offering a unique opportunity for Sunshine Coast residents to learn and be inspired by nature.
Native plants and birds will be the creative catalyst for this workshop with participants creating both mosaics and ceramic wall plaques, while Michele Knightley’s exhibition Banksias and Beyond (January 3-5 at the Maroochy Bushland Botanic Gardens) celebrates our wallum ecosystems, in particular the iconic Banksias.
For a truly unique experience, take part in our Sonic Explorers session on January 9 at Mary Cairncross Scenic Reserve and listen to the rainforest like you never have before. This sonic tour takes children on a journey discovering the world of acoustic ecology: new technology + science + creativity.
