Council actively promotes responsible pet ownership through education booths at parks and beaches and education programs designed for children.
Council's pound is located at Tanawha. If your pet has been impounded, all fees must be paid before the animal is released.
If a pet dog or cat is found roaming, council will try to identify and return the pet to its registered home.

Council adopted the management plan for domestic animals (cats and dogs) 2021-2030 at its Ordinary Meeting on 24 June 2021.
