Project overview

Mary Cairncross Scenic Reserve comprises 55 hectares of sub-tropical rainforest overlooking the Glass House Mountains national landscape. A remnant of the rainforests that once covered the Blackall Range, the reserve is a living museum of diverse plant and animal life and a place of tranquility and beauty.

The reserve's buildings include the rainforest discovery centre, cafe, visitor amenities, viewing deck and conference space. Surrounding spaces include the accessible Glider Gallery walk, children's playground, picnic area and walking tracks.

Watch the following clip to take a tour of Mary Cairncross scenic reserve building, meet the architect, designer, Senior Jinibara Elder Uncle Noel Blair, the client, and a volunteer and hear about how the building demonstrates the Sunshine Coast design principles.
