Early December 2024 - Seeds of Hope Planting

Location: Maroochydore - Mooloolaba Foreshore

Sunshine Coast Council and Make it Stop Committee invite you to take part in this special tree planting event in an act of solidarity and support for victims of domestic and family violence.

This event comes as the international 16 Days of Activism against Gender-Based Violence campaign commences on Saturday 25 November, International Day for the Elimination of Violence against Women, and runs through to Sunday 10 December, Human Rights Day. The campaign theme of Love ≠ Control is shining a light on coercive control. The topic of coercive control is being discussed more openly and is considered to be just as heinous as physical or sexual violence.

Everyone is welcome to help raise public awareness of domestic and family violence in our community. The 500 native ground covers planted on our dunes will act as a lasting legacy to acknowledge victims of domestic and family violence on the Sunshine Coast as well as rehabilitating and building resilience in our coastal dunes.

More information and booking link to be provided closer to the date.
