Katrina Lee Ford’s work exists in a unique place that lies between illusion and reality, a place where the ordinary things that we believe to know are transformed into extraordinary visual metaphors with new rich and emotional meanings.
Her work, often fabricated around her own self-portraits, family and geography that contain the rare ability to create a surreal intimacy between us the viewer and the people and places that we’ve never met nor visited. This tension between the depicted figures and shapes and our own imagination creates a singular body of work that relies on our own ability to love and be loved, because that is the key to enter into Katrina’s artworks: affection and honesty.
