As Cyclone Alfred approaches, several services are expected to be disrupted. Below is a list of closures and service interruptions.

Bin collections
Bin collections
Services are suspended for Thursday 6 and Friday 7 March 2025. Residents do not need to report missed bins - we'll pick them up on your next collection day. Please ensure your bins are secured inside your property boundary.
Rubbish tips
Rubbish tips
All Council tips are closed until further notice.
A decision will be made on Saturday regarding re-opening facilities and re-commencing collection services.
To support clean-up activities, there will be no collection fees when disposing your green or general waste when the tips reopen.

- Development information counter in Maroochydore will close from 12 noon today Wednesday 5 March, on Thursday 6 March and Friday 7 March 2025.
- There will be no plumbing inspections on Thursday 6 and Friday 7 March 2025.

Libraries
Due to the likely impacts of Tropical Cyclone Alfred, all Sunshine Coast Libraries will be closed from 2pm Wednesday 5 March to Friday 7 March. Libraries will reopen on Saturday 8 March, providing it is safe to do so.
The Mobile Library service will close from Wednesday 5 March to Saturday 8 March, reopening Monday 10 March.
Reservations ready for pickup will be available once we reopen. Customers should keep library items at home until it is safe to return them.
This closure is to ensure the safety of our customers and staff. We appreciate your understanding during this time.

The Events Centre Caloundra will be closed from Thursday 6 March, re-opening Monday 10 March (providing it is safe to reopen).

The Sunshine Coast Stadium and Kawana Sports Precinct (this includes all fields, gym, Western precinct and club house facilities) will be closed from Wednesday 5 March 2025 to COB Sunday 9 March 2025.

Landsborough Museum and Bankfoot House will be closed from 2pm 5 March, 2025 and will remain closed over the weekend. They will reopen as per usual opening hours next week.

Council has closed Sugar Bag Recreation Park’s mountain bike trails, until further notice, due to the predicted wind impacts of the cyclone.
